The different compression classes
Compression stockings are classified into 4 levels of compression : from class 1 (light) to class 4 (very strong) .
In France, this classification follows the AFNOR standard, which guarantees controlled and reliable pressure.
The French National Authority for Health (HAS) then recommends the appropriate level according to the stage of venous disease (CEAP classification).
👉 Compression is measured in mmHg (millimeters of mercury) , a medical unit that indicates the pressure exerted at the ankle.
